Tour Perret
Scenography and catalog for an exhibition retracing a hundred years of Grenoble landscapes photographed from the tower.
2022
Built in 1925 for the international white coal and tourism exhibition, the Tour Perret was designed by its architects Auguste and Gustave Perret as a belvedere to look at the mountains. It has offered a privileged point of view to observe the city and its surroundings. As part of its renovation and public reopening in 2025, the exhibition presented at the former Grenoble painting museum features some before and after photographs illustrating a century of urban modifications.
Installed in the museum’s former monumental library, the scenographic system punctuates the space through the use of large format visuals.
By navigating between past and present, photographic before and afters (1925–2020) invites the viewer to appreciate landscape evolutions in detail.
At the center, an octagonal structure supports a 360° panorama reconstructed from 1925 photographs. The use of cardboard for the walls and furniture is a nod to the raw concrete of the tower and a desired frugality.
